Extracting the honey

At the end of each Mānuka flowering season we travel around the North Island to harvest the honey from our 21,000 hives, visiting multiple wilderness locations as far as 1000km apart.
We transport the raw honey to our Taupo headquarters, where we extract the precious golden liquid into 300kg barrels for storage. This is the moment of truth – when we test the honey for the first time to confirm its quality and ascertain its potential to become a prized high-UMF (Unique Mānuka Factor) product with superior levels of antibacterial activity.
